Exercise Based Rehabilitation

Utilising Movement Based Classification & Treatment (MBCT) & Clinical Pilates

Do you feel like you receive the same treatment over and over again but your knee, back, neck or shoulder is still tight and sore?

Building adequate strength and stability is often the key to finding a pain-free solution. Strong muscles can better support your joints and reduce the strain on your musculoskeletal system. This helps break the cycle of pain.

At Perth Hills Physiotherapy we can develop a tailored exercise program for you to complete at home or in a supervised session at the clinic.

Small group sessions are available and provide an affordable solution for those with complex problems or pain, who require continued support and adjustments to their program.

Exercise Based Rehabilitation is ideal for:

  • Sporting injury rehabilitation
  • Recovery post-surgery eg. knee replacement, hip replacement, rotator cuff repair, spinal fusion
  • Chronic pain
  • Posture correction/spinal strength
  • Falls prevention and balance
  • Osteopenia/osteoporosis
Sports Injury Rehabilitation
One of the key factors for a safe and effective return to sport is building adequate strength and stability following injury. Perth Hills Physiotherapy can ensure you have a graded exercise program with sport-specific exercises, as well as providing you with advice on an appropriate return to your sport or training schedule.
Post Surgical Recovery
Your surgeon does an amazing job repairing internal structures but your body can still be weak and in need of strengthening. At Perth Hills Physiotherapy we have significant experience in providing appropriate exercise solutions to safely strengthen what the surgeon has repaired. Appropriate exercise can help reduce stiffness and pain and will help maximise your long term outcome.
Chronic Pain
The dreaded term ‘chronic pain’ can make us worry that we are going to be stuck with pain for ever.

At Perth Hills Physiotherapy our goal is to gently increase¬ your activity levels and provide strengthening options which don’t aggravate your symptoms. With years of experience managing exercise for people with chronic spinal pain, fibromyalgia and CRPS, our Principal Physiotherapist Kate Cranstoun is ready to provide a gentle yet effective exercise solution.
Posture Correction
Current research shows that ideal posture is different for everyone.

At Perth Hills Physiotherapy Mundaring, Kate has completed advanced training to determine which position is best for your spine. Assessment, position modification and precise reassessment, looking for an improvement in pain and muscle activation will determine whether your posture needs adjusting and how.
Falls Prevention & Balance
A well structured exercise program focussed on stability, strengthening and balance is very important for falls prevention. Your physiotherapist is trained to assess which specific areas need strengthening and how to improve your balance in a safe and effective way to reduce your risk of falls. Everyone is capable of improving their balance and we will find the right way for you.
Osteopenia and Osteoporosis (reduced bone density)
Reduced bone density is a problem for many women after menopause. Weight bearing exercise is vitally important for those diagnosed with low bone density (osteopenia) or osteoporosis, and can be used in conjunction with other medical management for the best outcomes.

At Perth Hills Physiotherapy we create individualised strengthening programs to assist with improving your bone density, stability and balance. Programs can easily be developed to accommodate for osteoarthritis, spinal pain and old injuries.
